The national dressage team's federation captain Bo Jenå is stepping down. After 16 years – four Olympic Games, four World Championships, and eight European Championships – the 68-year-old is leaving the assignment to spend more time with family and grandchildren.
"I was already thinking after Tokyo (Olympic Games 2021) about not extending the contract as federation captain. I had promised my children that when I get grandchildren, I would scale back. But the pandemic meant that it was only three years until the next Olympic Games, and the contract was extended over Paris", says Bo Jenå to the Swedish Equestrian Federation's website.
He took on the federation captain's job in 2008 and made his first championship debut with the European Championship the following year. Among the results highlights are Patrik Kittel's European Championship bronze in 2011 and the team's European Championship bronze in 2017 and 2019.
The recruitment of a new federation captain has begun, according to the Swedish Equestrian Federation.
