No personal injuries have been reported in connection with the explosion outside the restaurant, but there has been damage to a windowpane and an outdoor seating area.
A second suspicious object was found shortly after the explosion on the restaurant's outdoor seating area, which was disarmed at 04:30 by the national bomb squad.
The alarm about the initial explosion came in at 02:38, simultaneously with the national bomb squad disarming two suspicious objects in the Rosengård district. It is unknown whether the events are related.
VM
We initially see no connection between the two events, but the investigation will show, says Marie Keismar, duty officer at Police Region South.
In Rosengård, the alarm came in at 21:45 on Thursday and the police quickly issued an important message to the public, asking residents in the area to stay indoors and away from windows.
Half an hour later, another object was discovered in the area.
A man in his 18s was arrested during the night, suspected of attempted murder in connection with the incident in Rosengård. He is also suspected of gross crime against the law on flammable and explosive goods and has been detained.
Hand Grenades
Reports to local media suggest that it involves hand grenades both in Rosengård and in central Malmö, something the police neither confirm nor deny.
I cannot go into what has exploded, says Marie Keismar.
At 05:00, the police lifted the cordons around the restaurant and stated that there is no danger to the public. An investigation into general endangerment and gross crime against the law on flammable and explosive goods has been initiated.
In Rosengård, the police's VM was recalled shortly after 02:30 after the objects had been disarmed and taken care of by the bomb squad.
