It could be the largest foreign corporate deal in Japanese history. Canadian Couche-Tard, owner of, among other things, the Circle K brand, has made a preliminary bid on Japanese retail giant Seven & I Holdings with around 85,000 stores worldwide.

The bid, if it goes through, values the Japanese chain – with, among other things, 7-Eleven stores in its portfolio – at 31 billion dollars, equivalent to over 300 billion kronor.
