The cat Rayne Beau got scared and disappeared into a forest area during a camping trip in Yellowstone National Park in June. After four days of searching, his owners were forced to give up and drove home to Salinas in California.
Two months later, they received an unlikely call: Rayne Beau had been found in the town of Roseville, about a 3.5-hour drive from the couple's home.
How the little grey cat survived the nearly 150-mile long journey from Wyoming to California remains a mystery. His owners believe that he tried to make his way home.
I really believe that he made the journey mostly on his own. His paws were in poor condition, he had lost 40 percent of his body weight, and he had very low protein levels due to inadequate nutrition. So, he doesn't seem to have been taken care of by anyone, says the cat's owner Susanne Anguiano.
Rayne Beau has now been equipped with a GPS tracker.
