Norway's "bonus prince" Marius Borg Høiby is prosecuted for 32 crimes, including four rapes. He is also prosecuted for assault against a former partner. Rape and violence in close relationships are very serious actions that can cause serious harm and destroy lives, says public prosecutor Sturla Henriksbø at a press conference.

All the rapes Borg Høiby is prosecuted for are so-called "sleep rapes" that he has filmed. He is also prosecuted for assault against a former partner he lived with.

Against another former cohabitant, he is prosecuted for several violent acts, deprivation of liberty, vandalism, and violation of a restraining order, Sturla Henriksbø.

According to the public prosecutor, Borg Høiby has, among other things, spat on the woman, taken a stranglehold, and filmed her genitals without consent.

The Court: Up to the courts

In total, Borg Høiby is prosecuted for 32 crimes and he risks ten years in prison. He has previously admitted to some crimes, but denied the allegations of rape.

Marius Borg Høiby is the son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit from a previous relationship.

That Marius Borg Høiby is part of the royal family should of course not mean that he is treated more severely or more leniently, says Henriksbø.

In a comment, the Norwegian royal house writes that they have no comment on the prosecution other than that it is "up to the courts to handle this case).

Not remanded in custody

Marius Borg Høiby's defender Ellen Holager Andenæs says to TV2 that the prosecution is serious.

But it also resembles the allegations during the arrest, so it is no dramatic change.

The trial is expected to start in mid-January and take six weeks. The bonus prince will not, however, be remanded in custody until the start of the trial.

That's how it looks now. I know that the police do not think that the conditions for detention have been met. If new punishable acts should appear ahead, it will be reassessed, says Henriksbø to NTB.
