Sunday evening's demonstration was held as a conclusion to a nationwide general strike in Israel.

At the so-called hostage square in Tel Aviv – which has been the center for protests throughout the war – fathers of two of the hostages spoke, accusing the government of having abandoned their sons for political reasons. The organizers also showed a video where several released hostages appealed to US President Donald Trump to end the war and bring home the hostages held by the Palestinian Hamas.

In total, the Hostages and Missing Families Forum estimates that around one million Israelis gathered in protests around the country on Sunday. The demonstrators demand an end to the Gaza war and an agreement with the terrorist-stamped Hamas to release the remaining hostages.

During the protests, roads were blocked around the country, including the highway connecting Tel Aviv with Jerusalem, where demonstrators set fire to tires and caused traffic congestion. About 40 people have been arrested by the police for disturbing the peace in connection with the demonstrations.
