Bromberg's temporary employment as a publisher at the publishing house, which has been part of the Norstedts publishing group for four years, will not be renewed. The reason is poor profitability, according to Norstedts.
Casia Bromberg is the third generation in the Bromberg family at the publishing house, and what will happen to the family publishing house in the future is unclear, but according to SvB, the titles will continue to be distributed by Norstedts publishers.
Our ambition is to continue to drive Bromberg's publishing house and ensure that it can continue to be a strong publishing house with ambitious and broad publishing, with an emphasis on translated fiction, says Norstedts publishing director Håkan Bravinger to the newspaper.
Casia Bromberg says in a written comment to TT:
"It's very sad, of course, that Norstedts chooses to go this way. We have run Bromberg's publishing house for generations and we are approaching our 50th anniversary. It feels like a brutal ending, and how Bromberg's has been managed at Norstedts should have been handled much better."
Furthermore, authors and literary agents have shown strong support "in connection with being reached by the shocking news", according to Bromberg.
