The musical "Chicago" will be performed at Malmö Opera in the autumn of 2025. The classic gangster story by Fred Ebb, John Kander, and Bob Fosse celebrates its 50th anniversary next year. Ronny Danielsson is responsible for direction and Camilla Thulin for costumes and masks.
"It really feels fun to do 'Chicago' our way. We're working in the period of 1900-1920 in an elevated way," says Camilla Thulin in a press release.
"It's exciting to do because it's written as a vaudeville, a kind of cabaret with a lot of humor and a lot of singing and dancing. It's also interesting that it's based on a documentary story from that time," says Ronny Danielsson.
Among others, Leila Jung, Åsa Fång, and Richard Hamrin will be seen in the roles.
"Chicago" premieres on Malmö Opera's main stage on September 12, 2025, and will be performed until January 4, 2026.
