The National Audit Office initiated an investigation into the matter because they were not certain that Kinberg Batra, in her previous role as Governor of Stockholm, had the authority to terminate the employment.

She was later forced to leave her position as Governor after the Parliamentary Ombudsman directed severe criticism against her. Aftonbladet and TV4 News had previously revealed irregularities in the employment of three people at the County Administrative Board.

On Thursday, it was also announced that the Government Offices had given Kinberg Batra new tasks, reports Aftonbladet.

In her new role, she will "analyze the international dimension of artificial intelligence, AI", according to the Ministry of Finance, the newspaper writes. The purpose is to provide a basis that can be used for the government's work on AI issues.

The former Moderate Party leader will work on the new tasks between November this year and February next year. She will retain her salary of over 120,000 kronor until her appointment expires in February 2029.
