There are very many racist comments and it makes me very sad and upset, since I have competed for Sweden my whole life and been extremely proud when I have carried the Swedish flag, she says.

Telling SVT, she further states that people have written, among other things, that she should tear up her passport and that she does not deserve to be in Sweden.

It's completely surreal.

In connection with the national team change, Paulsson chose to criticize the Swedish federation.

"I have no confidence in the Swedish national team and do not feel that they want to invest in me. Therefore, I have made this decision and want to give myself the best conditions to fulfill my dreams and goals", she wrote on Instagram.

Tonya Paulsson was part of the Swedish national team in artistic gymnastics that last spring reached the final in the European Championship team event in Italy. It was the first time a Swedish women's team made it to the final. The team finished eighth and last in the final.
