Joel Eriksson Ek
Minnesota's Swedes strong against Hedman's Tampa
Minnesota's Swedish center Joel Eriksson Ek equalized to 1–1 and then Tampa's dominance was over for the night in the NHL. Minnesota won in the end with 5–3 at home, partly thanks to Filip Gustavsson in goal saving 28 shots.
Eriksson Ek equalized – turned to victory
Minnesota started strongly but then quickly fell behind to Tampa Bay in NHL ice hockey. Then, Swedish center Joel Eriksson Ek equalized – and turned the match into a win.
Swedish goalkeepers spiked again
Two Swedish goalkeepers, Anton Forsberg and Filip Gustavsson, played a major role when Ottawa shut out Utah and Minnesota rolled over Florida, last season's championship team. Forsberg kept a clean sheet for the sixth time in his career when Ottawa won 4–0.
Eriksson Ek out when Minnesota lost
Minnesota's Swedish center star Joel Eriksson Ek has broken his nose and was not on the ice when it became a loss after overtime against Winnipeg away with 1–2. Despite a great game by Filip Gustavsson – 33 saves – in Minnesota's goal, Winnipeg's Kyle Connor managed to score the decisive goal after 51 seconds, in a numerical superiority.
