Eight Swedish Olympic ice hockey players are currently injured. Tre Kronor's team doctor gives a reassuring message. They are taking the safe route rather than facing uncertain outcomes and are resting the players, Jonas Kalman tells Radiosporten.

Toronto star William Nylander is the latest Swedish addition to the injury list, just under a week after he was removed from the same list.

And he is not the only Swede in the Olympic squad who is not currently playing in the NHL.

Several of these reported cases have been pure safety measures, where you take the safe route before the risky one and rest the players, says Jonas Kalman.

There are always a few, two or three, injured players in a hockey team at any given time. It is clear that we have to maintain close contact (with players and teams) and we have fully qualified replacements on the list.

It is the management of Tre Kronor who, together with the players' clubs, decides whether Olympic games are possible or not.

The players over there are keen to get into good shape for the Olympics. And the clubs have done a great job of ensuring that we get our team together as well as possible for the Olympics.

Here is Tre Kronor's injury list right now: William Nylander, Toronto, Leo Carlsson, Anaheim, Victor Hedman, Tampa Bay, Erik Karlsson, Pittsburgh, Jonas Brodin and Joel Eriksson Ek, Minnesota, Gabriel Landeskog, Colorado and Philip Broberg, St. Louis.
