Collects income tax and VAT, handles the yearly tax return and registers businesses for F-tax.
Skatteverket
What it handles: income tax and the tax tables, the yearly tax return (deklaration), refunds and residual tax, SINK for people living abroad, VAT and employer returns, F-tax approval, ROT and RUT, and property tax. It also keeps the population register (see the separate entry).
How to reach it: most things are done on My Pages (Mina sidor) with Swedish e-identification. Call the tax information service, use the online contact form, chat on My Pages on weekdays, or visit a state service centre.
Where people get stuck: without a Swedish e-ID many e-services are closed to you. Residual tax must be on your tax account by the due date in your final tax statement, and refunds only arrive automatically if you have registered a bank account.
