According to the Swedish Tax Agency's decision, the EU-sanctioned Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska controls the company, which means that the assets should be frozen under EU sanctions rules.
Kubal has applied for an exemption from the sanctions rules in order to be able to pay salaries and suppliers and writes in a supplementary application that Swedish banks are withholding payments despite permission from the Swedish Board of Trade.
The company has also appealed the Swedish Tax Agency's decision and warned that the aluminium plant in Sundsvall may be forced to close.
