Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyj says that Russia's attack with a new type of ballistic missile against the metropolis Dnipro constitutes yet another escalation in the war.
"This is an obvious and serious escalation of the scope and brutality of this war, a cynical violation by Russia of the UN Charter", says Zelenskyj in a post on Telegram.
He says that the missile attack is Russia's second step towards escalation this year, after North Korean soldiers have joined the war, and that this is further evidence that Russia does not want peace.
"The world must react. Right now, a strong reaction from the world is lacking. Putin is very sensitive about this. He is testing you", says Zelenskyj.
Putin confirmed on Thursday that Russia has for the first time attacked Ukraine with a newly developed ballistic missile with a longer range than previously used in the war of aggression.
Putin also threatened to use the new missile type against military installations in countries that have allowed Kyiv to use weapons from them to attack Russia.
