New protests broke out in several Serbian cities late on Saturday. Among other things, premises belonging to the country's ruling party, SNS, were set on fire by a group of masked men in the city of Valjevo. The incident was followed by fireworks being shot at the police, who in turn used tear gas.

In the capital Belgrad, clashes broke out after the police stopped demonstrators on their way to the SNS party headquarters.

The protests have, among other things, their background in dissatisfaction with corruption and arose after a ceiling collapse in a train station last year, when several people were killed. It is now the fifth day in a row with occasional violent clashes, in a new wave of protests in the country.
