Nine have died and three are missing after a flood that hit northern China on Sunday.

A group of 13 people were out camping when they were surprised by the sudden flood. One person has been rescued, and a large effort with over 700 rescue workers is underway to find the three who are still missing.

Large parts of China have recently been hit by severe heatwaves in some areas and rainy weather in others. Over 40 people died when heavy rain fell in Beijing last month, and tens of thousands of people have been forced to leave their homes due to flooding in the southwestern part of the country.
