He took three golds and a silver in the latest cross-country skiing World Championship. For next year's World Championship on home turf in Trondheim, Pål Golberg is changing his season plan and skipping both sprint and Tour de Ski.
The reason: he has turned 34 years old.
I'm on the upswing in my career and if I can stand on the starting line in the World Championship and know that I'm on top then I'm willing to sacrifice my own judgment, he says.
Golberg has been one of the very best in sprint with 17 podium places in the World Cup, but now he chooses to abstain from sprint to not compete so much and get more time for winter training.
