Future confidence in Swedish trade is somewhat divided, shows the month's trade barometer. The party and daily goods trade see a slightly brighter future, while the future indicator for occasional purchase goods drops sharply.
Despite some optimism, it's really tough for many actors, writes Svensk Handel in a press release.
The number of notices and bankruptcies continues to be at high levels. All sub-sectors in the industry are below the neutral level, indicating widespread pessimism for the next three months.
"Overall, it's not a bright prognosis," says Sofia Larsen, CEO of Svensk Handel, in the press release and subsequently urges the Swedish Central Bank to lower the interest rate by 75 points before the turn of the year.
"If consumers don't get more in their wallets, we risk losing many of the smaller actors."
