The Norwegian appeals board Konkurranseklagenemnda confirms on Thursday the billion fines for the three food giants Norgesgruppen, Rema 1000 and Coop. They will collectively pay 4.9 billion Norwegian kronor in fines.
According to the Norwegian competition authority Konkurransetilsynet, they are to have collaborated in an illegal price cartel when they shared price information with each other, and thus breached the competition laws in Norway.
The three chains together account for 95 percent of the Norwegian daily goods market.
