”Cook must resign, now!!!”, writes Trump on the social media network Truth Social.
Lisa Cook responds in a statement that she has no plans to resign and does not intend to be bullied into leaving her position, writes CNBC.
The call comes after Bill Pulte, head of the Federal Housing Finance Agency, urged Justice Minister Pam Bondi to initiate an investigation into Cook, reports the news agency Bloomberg.
In a letter that Pulte sent to Bondi, it is suggested that Cook has “falsified bank documents and property records to get better loan terms”.
The Trump administration has previously brought forward similar allegations against the Democratic senator Adam Schiff and the state of New York's Justice Minister Letitia James.
Lisa Cook was nominated by former President Joe Biden in 2022 and her term extends until 2038.
