The alarm about a violent crime having occurred in the Öster district came at 5 pm on Friday.
The police were initially very secretive and only wanted to say that an injured person had been taken to hospital.
At 10:30 pm, the police confirmed that a person had been shot to death.
We are investigating a murder by shooting. A man is deceased, says the police's press spokesperson Mikael Hedström.
He does not want to disclose the age of the victim or whether the crime took place indoors or outdoors.

I have not received any such information, says Mikael Hedström.
An intensive investigative work is underway, according to Hedström.
After the alarm about the shooting, several police patrols were sent to the scene and the crime scene was cordoned off for a technical investigation. The police are also seeking witnesses in the area.
