After a goalless first period, it became increasingly intense in the middle period. After just over six minutes, Tre Kronor broke the deadlock in the match, when Jacob de la Rose in a numerical superiority situation was able to make it 1–0, set up by Lucas Wallmark.
It does a lot when we get the first one, we get a bit of momentum to build on and then it flows, says Wallmark to SVT during the break.
Wallmark then saw to it that he himself doubled the lead by precision-shooting in 2–0 just over halfway through the period, and just 17 seconds later, the recently called-up Sebastian Hartmann – replacement for Brynäs star Jakob Silfverberg – extended the lead to 3–0.
And it didn't stop there. 4–0 signed Mathias Bromé fell just before the break, only seconds after Switzerland had a puck in the Swedish goal in a chaotic situation – but where the referee had incorrectly blown the whistle.
In the third period, Switzerland managed to reduce the score to 1–4, but no more than that, and Tre Kronor could secure the victory.
Next up for Tre Kronor is a match against Finland on Saturday, before the Swiss Hockey Games conclude against the Czech Republic on Sunday.
