Clothing sales increased by 6.4 percent in December. On the other hand, shoe sales slowed down, down 6.1 percent, according to the Swedish Trade Stilindex.
Particularly good was the sale of clothes online, which is partly explained by Cyber Monday falling in December instead of November. The slow shoe sales can be explained by the snow arriving in the country only towards the end of the month, according to Swedish Trade.
"Hopefully, interest rate and tax cuts will boost consumption in the fashion trade," says Sofia Larsen, CEO of Swedish Trade, in a press release.
