During the night to Saturday, two weapons depots in Russia were hit by a Ukrainian attack, according to Ukraine's military.
One of them is located in the city of Tichoretsk in Krasnodar and is described by Ukraine as one of Russia's three largest ammunition warehouses, which is considered logistically important for Russian warfare in Ukraine. On social media, film clips are spreading that show a massive explosion lighting up the night sky, writes AFP.
On Saturday afternoon, the local authorities in Tichoretsk declared a state of emergency due to the drone attack, reports the Russian state-controlled news agency Tass.
Krasnodar's governor Veniamin Kondratjev has announced that 1,200 people have been evacuated from the area.
The second attack of the night hit a missile depot in Toropet in the Russian region of Tver.
Just a few days ago, a Ukrainian drone attack on another weapons depot in Toropet led to an explosion with a magnitude of 2.7 – equivalent to a minor earthquake, according to British reports. On X, the British Ministry of Defence writes that the attack likely caused such significant losses of material that Russian ground operations may be halted, especially in the Kursk region, which has been partially invaded by Ukraine.
