Air raid sirens wailed in several Israeli cities, including Jerusalem, as well as on the occupied West Bank on Friday. The military (IDF) stated that a rocket was launched from Yemen, reports AFP.
Journalists at the news agency reported that they heard explosions over Jerusalem.
"Sirens sounded in several areas in Israel after a projectile that was launched from Yemen", the military wrote, shortly after saying that the air defense system "is acting to strike down the threat".
After a while, the message came from the IDF that the rocket had been shot down.
Israel has been attacked several times with rockets sent by the Iran-backed Houthi movement in Yemen.
