Russia has for the first time participated in a meeting on prisoner exchange with Ukrainian human rights representatives. The meeting was held during an exchange of 90 captured soldiers in Kiev on Tuesday, according to Ukraine's human rights commissioner Dmytro Lubinets.
This is the 50th prisoner exchange since the start of the war, but the first where human rights representatives from both sides met. The purpose was, among other things, to document whether the prisoners had been subjected to human rights violations.
The meeting was an initiative from Ukraine.
Russia's human rights commissioner Tatyana Moskalkova also confirmed that a meeting had taken place.
According to her, "information was exchanged about possible alternatives for the return of civilians".
