Isaacman has made spaceflights for Trump's advisor and Tesla CEO Elon Musk's SpaceX and has even managed a spacewalk.

Musk was quick to congratulate Isaacman, who himself invested an unknown amount in SpaceX, while his payment solutions company invested 27.5 million dollars, over a quarter of a billion kronor, in Musk's space company.

SpaceX is one of NASA's main collaboration partners and often competes for lucrative assignments from the authority. The appointment is likely to raise questions in the Senate, which is to approve the nomination, about bias and the risk of SpaceX being favored in an unauthorized manner.

"After having had the luck to see our fantastic planet from above, I am burning to see the USA lead the most magnificent adventure in human history", writes Isaacman in a social media post.
