Want to see presidential meeting
Trump wants to arrange a meeting between Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyj and Russia's President Vladimir Putin, to discuss a peace agreement. It is not yet decided whether or when a meeting can take place.
Zelenskyj has stated that he is ready to meet Putin, and says that Ukraine must be allowed to participate in all talks concerning Ukraine's territories.

Proposal from Putin
Putin is said to have proposed Moscow as a meeting place in a phone call with Trump on Monday, according to sources for the news agency AFP. The proposal is said to have been rejected by Zelenskyj.
Trump and the German Chancellor Friedrich Merz say that Putin has agreed to hold a bilateral meeting with Zelenskyj within the next two weeks. Zelenskyj had already previously suggested a meeting with Putin.

Unclear security guarantees
The meeting at the White House has brought Ukraine closer to security guarantees, but what these will entail is unclear. Trump rules out that American forces would fight on Ukrainian territory, but hints at "American presence" in the country.
Trump also says that Russia has approved the proposal for security guarantees. Zelenskyj said on Tuesday night that Ukraine, together with its allies, will formalize the terms for these security guarantees within ten days.
The Russian Foreign Ministry announced on Monday evening that "we repeat our categorical opposition to all scenarios that involve the deployment of NATO soldiers in Ukraine".

The coalition was informed
On Tuesday, representatives of the countries that make up the coalition of countries that support Ukraine, which includes Sweden, were informed. A potential support force in Ukraine in the event of a ceasefire is a main issue, where several countries are hesitant.
"An aggressor must never be rewarded. On the contrary, we must ensure that it will not happen again. That's why Sweden is part of the talks on security guarantees - it's central also for our own security", writes Ulf Kristersson to TT after the meeting.

Good tone
The tone between Zelenskyj and Trump was significantly better than the last time they met at the White House in February this year. The two exchanged courtesies and compliments.
At Monday's meeting, Zelenskyj wore a black suit, unlike the military uniform he wore at the White House in February, when he was criticized for his clothes.
