Mike Huckabee will be the USA's next ambassador to Israel. At least that's what the incoming President Donald Trump wants, who has nominated the former Arkansas Governor for the position.
"He loves Israel and the Israeli people, and the people in Israel love him. Mike will work tirelessly to achieve peace in the Middle East!" Trump writes in a statement.
Huckabee, whose daughter Sarah Huckabee Sanders was Trump's press secretary in the White House in 2017-19, has led group tours to Israel for many years.
On Tuesday evening, Donald Trump also confirmed the previously rumored appointment of Mike Waltz as national security advisor.
Waltz, who was re-elected to the House of Representatives last week, is an ardent Trump supporter. He is described as having a hawkish stance on China, has served in the US Army for 27 years – including in the special forces Green Berets – and has war experience from Afghanistan.
