Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with the American presidential candidate Donald Trump in Florida on Friday.
Trump took the opportunity to attack his rival, the likely Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris.
Netanyahu received a warm welcome from Trump at the Republican's residence Mar-a-Lago.
It is the first time in nearly four years that they have met in person.
Incompetent people are governing our country, Trump said during the meeting, and described Vice President Kamala Harris as worse than President Joe Biden.
"Everything will be resolved"
Trump claimed that the situation in the Middle East will improve if he wins the presidential election.
Everything will be resolved, and very quickly, he said.
In his speech to the US Congress earlier in the week, Netanyahu thanked Trump for "all the things he did for Israel" during his presidency. Netanyahu highlighted, among other things, the Trump administration's recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's undivided capital.
I appreciated it, Trump said in an interview on Thursday.
The tone was frostier after Trump's election loss in 2020. The former president has told an Israeli author in interviews that he was upset that Netanyahu was quick to congratulate Joe Biden on his victory.
Met Harris
Netanyahu's trip to the US takes place during a period when the relationship between the two countries is strained due to Israel's warfare in Gaza.
Netanyahu met with rival Kamala Harris earlier in the week. She stated afterwards that Israel has the right to defend itself, but that she also expressed deep concern over the immense suffering in Gaza during the meeting.
We cannot allow ourselves to become indifferent to the suffering, and I will not remain silent, Harris said.
