Lydia Flores Garcia and Nina Irendotter receive the Benny Award for their interpretations of the roles of Hamlet and Ophelia in the drama "Look at Hamlet", which is based on Barbro Lindgren's book.
According to the motivation, the actors create "a wonderful bond" with the audience and the story.
"Lydia Flores Garcia and Nina Irendotter convey longing, fear, and loneliness in Shakespeare's classic drama – but also the joy of finding each other, of joking and playing. A performance and, above all, two actors who entirely embody Benny's spirit!", it states.
The Benny Award was established in 2020 in memory of theatre director Benny Fredriksson, and is awarded by the Cultural Centre City Theatre and opera singer Anne Sofie von Otter, to cultural creators driven by passion for art and to reach a broad audience. The prize winners will share 100,000 kronor.
The award will be presented at a ceremony at the Cultural Centre City Theatre on September 19.
