Catalyst thefts decreased sharply during the first half of 2024, according to statistics from Larmtjänst. During the period, 294 catalysts were stolen – a decrease of 91 percent compared to the same period last year.

A possible explanation is that the raw material prices of precious metals have fallen and that the most vulnerable models have become fewer due to age and scrapping.

During the period, 322 headlights, 370 navigation devices, and 382 airbags were stolen. Overall, it is a small increase compared to last year.

Different car brands are exposed to different types of component thefts. Cars of the brand BMW have the most navigation and airbag thefts, while Volvo is exposed to more headlight thefts and Toyota for catalyst thefts.
