The representatives mean that the laws that come into force on July 1, which are intended to make it easier to change legal sex, are both unconsidered and harmful. In the debate article, they claim that one has been able to see an "explosive increase" of young people who want to undergo a sex change in recent years. According to the article's authors, there are often underlying psychiatric illnesses behind the dysphoria or that it ceases in connection with leaving puberty.
"That those affected by this have been left to their fate without so much as an apology from those responsible for their care – which has proven to be incorrect – is in our opinion beneath all criticism", they write.
