320 billion dollars or approximately 3,500 billion kronor, the destroyed values are estimated to amount to in weather-related disasters during 2024. It is the third highest notation since 1980 and far above the average of the last ten years, according to German Munich Re. Even the second major player Swiss Re has made a similar assessment.
Of this, around 140 billion dollars were insured.
Most indications suggest that 2024 will go down in history as the warmest year and the first to exceed 1.5 degrees above pre-industrial levels.
