The Asian stock exchanges continue to climb. A few hours into the trading day, the Japanese Nikkei 225 had risen by 2.5 percent.
The leading indexes in Asia are following up a generally sunny Monday with further increases, in the wake of US President Donald Trump's announcement of an extended tariff pause with China.
The Japanese Nikkei 225 was at lunchtime at a new record level, after climbing 2.5 percent in the morning trade local time. The South Korean Kospi is also doing well, up 0.5 percent.
In China, the Shanghai composite index is rising 0.4 percent, while Shenzhen is up 0.2 percent. The Hong Kong-based Hang Seng is trading just below zero.
