The AI company Perplexity has made a bid of 34.5 billion dollars (just over 329 billion kronor) for Google's web browser Chrome, reports CNBC.
Last month, Perplexity was valued at 18 billion dollars, so the bid is thus far above that. But the company states that it has several other investors behind it that have agreed to support the deal.
CNBC has not yet received any comment from Google about the information, which the Wall Street Journal was the first to report on.
In July, Perplexity launched its own AI-driven web browser with the name Comet.
The company competes with heavy AI players such as Meta and Open AI. Earlier this year, Perplexity was contacted by Meta for a possible acquisition, but no deal ever came about.
