On Tuesday, statistics were released showing that inflation in the US was around 3 percent in July, which was both lower and somewhat higher than expected.
Then Trump, on his social media platform Truth Social, went on the attack again. He again accused Powell of being slow with the interest rate and of causing the economy "incalculable" damage.
The central bank Federal Reserve's (Fed) inflation target is 2 percent and Powell has persistently claimed that monetary policy decisions should be made based on real statistics and without political interference.
Now Trump is once again making accusations that a renovation of the Fed's headquarters in Washington should have cost three billion dollars, a sum that Powell has dismissed.
With Trump, the whole thing is being taken a step further, and he is threatening with a lawsuit.
"However, I am considering allowing a larger lawsuit against Powell to proceed due to the terrible and grossly incompetent job he has done in handling the renovation of the Fed buildings."
