Trump writes in a post on his platform Truth Social that his government will now negotiate with Tan to present "proposals" next week.
The President demanded last week that Tan "must resign immediately". The move came after the Republican Senator Tom Cotton had been in contact with the company's board regarding questions about the CEO's previous connections to the Chinese company Cadence Design Systems Inc.
Lip-Bu Tan, who took over as CEO of Intel in March, has responded in a statement that there has been "a lot of misinformation circulating" about his previous roles.
