Seven in 10 students say their finances are good, CSN survey finds

The concept of the “poor student” may be less relevant today. Seven out of ten students rate their finances as “fairly good” or “very good”, according to a new report from CSN.

The figures also show a clear improvement compared with the 2024 survey, when 56 percent gave the same answer.

One reason is believed to be the increase in the proportion of younger students. They are more likely to live with their parents, which means lower costs. The general economic situation is also considered a contributing factor.

“In 2024, when the survey was last conducted, inflation had been high for some time, which may have affected people’s views of the economy,” says Jonas Larsson, an analyst at CSN, in a press release.

At the same time, 63 percent say they would be able to cope with an unexpected expense of SEK 13,000. In 2024, the proportion was 54 percent.
