The UN member states have adopted a "future pact", which addresses the challenges that characterize our time – conflicts, climate change, and lack of human rights. It includes, among other things, a segment where the use of nuclear weapons is discouraged.
The future pact was launched by Secretary-General António Guterres, who said that it is a unique opportunity to influence human history by reviving international cooperation.
The pact was adopted during the ongoing general assembly meeting in New York on Sunday, despite some countries, including Russia, raising objections at the last minute.
