Wijk has six World Championship gold medals and the most points in the Swedish top league SSL of all time. She has also been crowned the world's best player four times.
After her playing career ended, she has been seen as an expert in SVT and in the competition program Master of Masters.
But now Expressen reports that she is making a comeback – in Storvreta – with a clear goal.
Storvreta is a large association with good activities and the women's SSL would benefit from getting such an association in the top tier. The team really has something exciting going on and they have had a good season so far. It feels both nice and fun to get the chance to complete what we started a few years ago, says Wijk in a press release on the club's website.
Wijk has previously played for the club during the pandemic, but only managed to play five matches during that stint. She says she has a hard time leaving the sport.
- I obviously have a very hard time tearing myself away from floorball. I still think floorball is incredibly fun and my body holds up. It's the time that's haunting, working full-time and having small children at home is a puzzle in itself. Now it's just a short period of playing again and we can manage to solve that puzzle, says Wijk in the same press release on the club's website.
