He is already the jersey sponsor for both the men's and women's teams. Now, pop star Ed Sheeran takes the next step in his declaration of love for the football club in his heart.
The hitmaker buys into Ipswich, which after 22 years of absence makes a comeback in the men's Premier League next season.
"It's every football supporter's dream to own the club they support," says the 32-year-old Englishman in a comment on the club's website.
Sheeran will not, however, take a seat on the board and is only a passive minority owner. He owns a 1.4 percent stake in the club.
The world star grew up outside Ipswich and has been seen at the home arena Portman Road during previous seasons.
Ipswich meets Liverpool at home in Saturday's Premier League premiere.
