During the first week with the new forfeiture law, the police have seized goods worth over 10 million kronor, according to the police themselves.
Among other things, they have taken cars, watches, bags, motorcycles, and cash from individuals who are deemed to belong to the criminal world. In total, the police have initiated 56 cases of so-called independent forfeiture.
"It is satisfying that we already have so many ongoing investigations," says Torbjörn Rosén, national coordinator against criminal economy at Noa, in a press release.
The cases are now being taken over by prosecutors. The decision on whether the goods should be confiscated by the state or not will be made after a court trial.
