A low-pressure system located over Sweden is causing unstable weather in virtually the entire country.
We have a front with a slightly more cohesive precipitation area that stretches from northwestern Götaland up over western Svealand and southern Norrland. Along this front, there are instances of slightly heavier rain, says Linnea Rehn Wittskog, meteorologist at SMHI.
On Saturday, rain showers are expected, which can locally contain thunder in large parts of Götaland. Later, the low-pressure system may move up over Svealand, and thunder is also expected over Västerbotten and the inland parts of Norrbotten County.
SMHI warns
SMHI has issued a yellow warning for rain similar to cloudbursts in parts of Halland and southwestern Västergötland on Saturday.
It is due to rain and thunder showers that we see are moving in over the west coast from the sea in the morning. There is a risk of heavy showers that can bring large amounts of rain in a short time, says Linnea Rehn Wittskog,
Locally, up to 30-50 millimeters can fall, which can lead to flooding in basements and stormwater systems, as well as problems on roads and in viaducts.
In the afternoon, the showers are expected to subside, and the warning applies until 3 pm on Saturday.
Continued unstable weather
The unstable weather is expected to persist even on Sunday and at the beginning of next week when a deep low-pressure system on Tuesday moves in from the west over southern Sweden.
It will bring rain over a large part of the country, in some areas it may become slightly larger amounts. But it will primarily become very windy on Tuesday and Wednesday, mainly in Götaland.
