Åkesson directed harsh criticism at the government, which SD cooperates with through the Tidö Agreement, in a post on X.
"Had we suspected that the government would be so flaky and weak in Middle East policy, we would of course have demanded foreign policy guarantees in the Tidö Agreement as well," Åkesson writes .
"Submissiveness"
He writes that this type of reaction is what Hamas is seeking with "its terror and cynical exploitation of the civilian population in Gaza".
"This submissiveness from the Swedish side shows how important it is to have the Sweden Democrats in the government after the election next year".
SD's Member of Parliament Richard Jomshof also shared a satirical cartoon of Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M) on Saturday morning, where he is likened to a fish following the current.
"Leaves no doubt"
Kristersson refers, via his press secretary, to Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard (M). She says in a written statement that the Israeli government "has not followed its part of its obligations for humanitarian aid", and that the government has "drawn the natural conclusions from this".
"The suffering in Gaza is enormous. There is no doubt about Hamas' extremely destructive role, they bear a very heavy responsibility for the situation in Gaza. This fact does not, however, exempt Israel from their obligations under international humanitarian law," says the Foreign Minister.
On Thursday, Malmer Stenergard announced that the government wants the EU to freeze the trade agreement with Israel. She then said that the situation in Gaza had deteriorated in July and that Israel is not living up to its commitments.
