A fake Swish app has been used for several payments in Varberg over the past week, reports Halland News.

The app looks and functions exactly like the original, except that no transactions are actually carried out.

Primarily, it is restaurants that have been affected. In all cases, the fake payments have been made by young people, according to the reports.

It's enough to know that it's a new trend. In these cases, we're talking about thousands of kronor each time. We can assume that more people have been deceived for smaller amounts, says community police officer Ghadi Ghazale to the newspaper.

Similar frauds have also been discovered in other parts of the country.

More municipalities are warning about exactly this. There are payment apps in several different variants, so I understand that it's easy to be deceived, says Ghadi Ghazale.

Even though fake Swish payments in themselves are not new, they haven't been as developed as the new app, according to the police. To protect themselves as business owners, it's therefore important to check payments made via Swish.
