Sweden's naval chief Ewa Skoog Haslum has been appointed as the new head of the Defence Forces' operational command. She takes over from Carl-Johan Edström, who has been the head of the Defence Staff and Headquarters for some time.
Ewa Skoog Haslum is also promoted to vice-admiral. In a press release, she says that it is extremely honourable to be trusted to lead the Defence Forces' operations and efforts.
Skoog Haslum has been naval chief for four years.
"The navy will always be in my heart and I bring the operational perspective from there, but now I will be responsible for a whole where the multidomain must be weighed together", she says in the press release.
Defence Minister Pål Jonson (M) says that Ewa Skoog Haslum is a "very meritorious" future head of operational command.
She will take up her new position on November 15. Who will become the new naval chief has not been announced.
