The Swedish Radio's Ekot has previously revealed that Botkyrka has used over 600,000 kronor of the special government grant against gang recruitment for a New York trip and a marketing plan, which was later scrapped.
In an external investigation, the auditing firm PwC notes serious deficiencies within the municipality's culture and leisure administration.
They point out, among other things, that the administration has failed to follow the Local Government Act and the administration's principles.
But the criticism goes further than that. According to Ekot, the deficiencies are so serious that they are described as system-threatening in the investigation.
"My greatest focus is now on restoring confidence in Botkyrka Municipality and ensuring that we, in all respects, do the right thing", says Municipal Director Chris Österlund in a press release.
A number of measures will be taken immediately. Three managers at the culture and leisure administration have been dismissed, while the municipality will hire a coordinator who, among other things, will ensure the right competence in government grants.
