Influential music industry magazine Billboard has recently listed the biggest pop stars of the century. Taylor Swift came in second on the list, but when the magazine published a video collage of the star on social media, it went wrong, writes Huff Post.
A sequence in the tribute came from the notorious music video for Kanye West's song "Famous" from 2016, which features, among other things, a naked wax doll resembling Taylor Swift, alongside images of several other nude celebrities.
Taylor Swift took offense to the Kanye West video and described the incident in a 2019 social media post as "revenge porn" and an escalation of the conflict the artists have had for many years.
It all started in 2009 when Kanye West stormed onto the stage during an awards ceremony and interrupted Taylor Swift as she accepted an award. In his eyes, she was not a worthy winner.
The pop star has repeatedly described the incident in interviews as very uncomfortable. And many of her fans have believed they found references to the feud in several of her song lyrics.
"We apologize to Taylor Swift, all our readers, and those who saw the video for including a sequence that did not represent her in a tribute that was meant to celebrate her success," writes Billboard in a social media comment.
